Doula Services
I have been a labor doula since 1998 and am certified through CAPPA. I have experience in natural and medicated births, home and hospital births, Cesareans, VBACs, inductions, and high risk pregnancies. I also have extra training in lactation, and am passionate about breastfeeding.
My philosophy about birth is a dual one. I believe that natural childbirth is an incredibly valuable, important experience, and an option too quickly dismissed. I feel it is important to educate my clients about natural birth, both the psychological benefits and the huge reduction in risks to mother and child. I also believe that each woman has a right to make her own best choices, and that those choices are not the same for every woman. I feel it is my responsibility to educate clients about all their options, including the risks, benefits, and possible consequences. It is then my joy to fully support my clients' decisions, trusting that each woman knows best what is right for her situation.
I offer two prenatals (with an optional third if induction is likely), home and hospital labor support, two postpartums, phone and email support, and 24-hour on-call from 38 weeks until the baby is two weeks old.
